...The Rest of The Story

From: Chicago Chapter Visits Pullman

The tour began and ended with a bus ride from downtown Chicago.
Our host and principal tour guide was Mike Shymanski - a long-time resident of the Pullman community.

Mike Shymanski began our tour by reviewing a timeline of significant events - beginning in 1816.

The Florence Hotel, named after one of the Pullman daughters, is being restored to provide an important role in the National Park

The residents of the community worked in the manufacture of the famous rail cars. But they also created small businesses to provide for he needs of he community. Here a cobbler's shop set up in the garage of one of the residences.

We enjoyed box lunches in a cafe in the park.
