The tour began and ended with a bus ride from downtown Chicago. Our host and principal tour guide was Mike Shymanski - a long-time resident of the Pullman community. (Click on an image to see a larger version)
Mike Shymanski began our tour by reviewing a timeline of significant events - beginning in 1816. |
The Florence Hotel, named after one of the Pullman daughters, is being restored to provide an important role in the National Park |
The residents of the community worked in the manufacture of the famous rail cars. But they also created small businesses to provide for he needs of he community. Here a cobbler's shop set up in the garage of one of the residences. |
We enjoyed box lunches in a cafe in the park. |
